Paris in the Rain

Paris in the Rain is a short movie that was written and directed by Eli Hart. This was the first movie I got involved with as a dedicated director of photography as all other project up until that point had been from scripts I'd had a hand in writing. The process was incredibly enjoyable and, at the time of writing this, the film has been nominated for 6 awards, including best director and best cinematographer in London's Renaissance Film Festival.

EDIT - Paris in the Rain won 2 awards at the New Renaissance Film Festival - Eli Hart won Best Director and I won Best Cinematograhy

Birmingham to London

At the time I got the call from Eli to ask if I would consider contributing to his new movie project, I was living in a small town about 20 minutes out of Birmingham. The movie was shot in London, across 3 weekends and the location was so rewarding, I began planning to move within a few months.

Look and feel

One of the principal attractions to this project for me, was the attention to the look and feel of the film. Eli really wanted to be very deliberate with the colour palette and lighting. This was very exciting to me because I'm also very interested in moulding the visual elements to augment the narrative. We worked very hard to marry the colour of the film to the colour of the painting that appears in the movie, which was an anchor to the story.
